PTFE Gaskets: PTFE Envelopes

(Polytetrafluoroethylene gaskets) PTFE gaskets are mainly

used in environments in which the gasket material is

exposed to aggressive chemicals: such as acids, bases and

solvents.

PTFE can also be used in combination with non-asbestos

gasket material. In this form the PTFE is machined into a

bore liner, to shield the non- asbestos gasket from

chemical attack. Such a PTFE gasket is known as a PTFE

envelope.
