Sheets are formed from cork granules bonded with rubber, resins or plastics.
Easily cut for mass production.
Ideal for irregular surfaces or uneven bolt loading.
Seals well under low flange pressures.
Low cost.

Types
Neoprene Bonded Cork

Good general purpose material with good oil resistance. Excellent for sealing at low flange pressures and temperatures to 120 C.

Nitrile Bonded Cork
Excellent oil and solvent resistance. Excellent for sealing at low flange pressures and temperatures to 120 C.

Plastic Bonded Cork
Used for very low quality applications. Very poor recovery characteristics. RAM does not hold stocks of plastic bonded cork.

Electrical transformers.
Electrical switchgear.

General guide to cork
Gasket paper is a cellulose based material impregnated with a plasticised gelatine.

Features are low cost and excellent fuel and oil resistance but it is not suitable for acids, alkalis or steam.

Applications
Mainly in the automotive market.
Carburettor, fuel and oil pumps, thermostats, gearboxes etc.
